What’s the 4-1-1?
Released in Japan in October of 2005, Buckcherry’s third album
finally makes its way to the rest of the World.
Genre
Hard rock / rock
The Good
The album’s first track “So Far” has all of the energy and
attitude that Buckcherry’s prior releases had. “Next 2 You” has
a great bluesy backbeat to it. The chorus is as infectious as it is relatable. “Out
of Line” brings the distortion down a bit and focuses more on the melodic
side of the band. “Everything” switches the melodic focus to vocalist
Josh Todd. He does a lot more singing, as opposed to cock-sure shouting. You’ll
hear more and more of this throughout the album. “Crazy Bitch” is
a hard rocker that explores the joys and perils of being a hard rock frontman.
It has been eluded to that Paris Hilton was the inspiration behind it. If you
have a chance to catch the video, I highly recommend it. “Brooklyn” explores
more of that bluesy sound with some 12-bar blues and slide guitar.
The Bad
Nothing notable
The Verdict
If you’re prepared for a more melodic and diverse Buckcherry, then 15 will
certainly appeal to you. Some people who are used to tracks like “Lit
Up” and “Ridin’” might be a little disappointed.
It was nice to hear that the band has matured as musicians, but maintained
the right amount of attitude to keep their edge.
