What’s the 4-1-1?
Metal act Light this City release their third album.

Genre
Metal / progressive

The Good
Title track "Facing the Thousands" begins with an orchestral instrumental piece that builds up into the explosion that the track lets off. This track is blistering and never lets up. The guitar is very catchy and melodic and the vocals from Laura Nichol are very impressive. Continuing on, "The Unwelcome Savior" brings forth some strong guitar movement but it has just enough edge to make it very smoothing as well. "Exile" is one of the faster tracks with it's blistering musical effort. The solo piece at the end is very well done. "Maddening Swarm", and "City of the Snares" are both very grand on a musical aspect.

The Bad
Nothing notable

The Verdict
When it comes to females who want to scream in the metal genre, few can succeed. Laura Nichol and Light this City however have prevailed. Laura has some very impressive chords on her. The musical work on this album is superb as well. I really like the harmonics of the guitar riffs and how the drums blend it well and keep that rhythem going. I enjoyed listening to this album and hopefully others out there will too.

Did You Know?
Light this City have appeared at the pretty well known New England Metal & Hardcore Festival in early 2006.

Rating: out of 5
