What's the 4-1-1?
First full-length album for the San Diego foursome.
Genre
Power pop / hard rock / emo
The Good
The Transit War comes at you rapid and melodic on the opening track “Radar.” “Nightime
Enemy” starts off with subtle guitar clicks, but slowly builds as the
track progresses. By the time the chorus rolls around, the guitars are coming
at you with full distortion and the vocals are just as prevalent. You won’t
soon forget the stinging guitar lick or galloping drum beat of “Chutes
and Lasers.” “The Only Evidence” is a nice mix of slow
and mid tempo rhythms. Staccato riffs and emotional lyrics dominate “Desiree,
Safe!” Despite having one of the best titles, “Hey! Is for Horses” has
contains some of The Transit War’s heavier material. “Safety
in the Air” rounds out the album with a mix of acoustic strumming and
is emotional power chords.
The Bad
Nothing notable
The Verdict
Miss Your Face surpasses The Transit War’s previous EP release by doubling
the amount of catchy and hook laden songs, and upping the melodic vocals
and high-energy quotient.
Did You know?
While recording Miss Your Face in Austin, Texas, the band survived on a steady
diet of Tex-Mex and alcohol.
