What’s the 4-1-1?
Stone Cold Classics is (yet another) Queen compilation,
released in April 2006.
Genre
Rock / hard rock / pop-rock
The Good
It's Queen. Their music rules. and they're one of the greatest bands ever. That's
about it for the good things I have to say about this collection.
The Bad
This is a cash cow. And it's not even a very good one, either! In fact, this
is hands down the worst Queen compilation. EVER. Let's see. Only ELEVEN songs!?
That's ridiculous, considering most Queen compilations have eighteen or so.
There are QUEEN WITH PAUL RODGERS songs on here!? I love that stuff, but it
doesn't belong on a best of Queen CD. The songs aren't even in their original
release order! And now we get to the biggest flaw of all - The omissions.
And
there are a TON of them. "Keep Yourself
Alive,"
"Seven Seas Of Rhye," "Killer Queen," "You're My Best Friend," "I'm In Love
With My Car," "Thirty-Nine," "Somebody To Love," "Bicycle Race," "Body Language,"
"Under
Pressure,"
"I Want To Break Free," "One Vision," "A Kind Of Magic," and "Innuendo." ALL
OF THESE SONGS ARE MISSING! No, I am not making this up. In their place are
often
songs that are less deserving of a place on a Queen compilation. As much
as I like
Queen, I can't bring myself to recommend this compilation at all.
The Verdict
Get the We Will Rock You Greatest Hits compilation instead. You'll
get a much better overview of the band's career. This compilation is "Stone
Cold
Crap" that doesn't do the Queen legacy justice.
Did You Know?
Of all of Queen's studio albums, only half (roughly) have a song featured on
this compilation.
