What’s the 4-1-1?
Out of Chicago, IL comes a great metal band with their sophomore
album.
Genre
Death metal
The Good
Looking for crushing guitar riffs, thundering drum beats, heart pounding bass
lines, and vocals similar to Peter Dolving of The Haunted? Well look no more.
This album has all of that and more. With the opening song "Unholy Murder," you
can already tell this album is going to be nothing but METAL. With its blistering
rhythm and guitar heaviness, you can’t help but like this song. "Carnage
Begins" is drum driven, but provides good vocal work from lead singer
Mark Duca. "Bitter Emptiness" is a change from the previous track
because its guitar dominated, with a few unique drum fills here and there. “Consumed
by Anger" and "Infidel" contain amazing blast beats by drummer
Ryan "Blaze" Blazek. He hits on the skins like a madman.
The Bad
"Refuse the Truth" just brings the album down. There’s nothing
good at all in that song. "World Controlled" and "Out of Reach" are
a little boring. The same vocal pattern tends to get annoying after a while.
You will probably skip through some of the songs.
The Verdict
Despite the few flaws it has, World Controlled is one bad-ass metal album,
that’s sure to kick your teeth in.
Did You Know?
During the writing process of World Controlled, vocalist Mark Duca said "I
felt like people were trying to control me," and that’s where the
album’s title comes from.
