What’s the 4-1-1?
The debut EP from the Florida based group led by singer/guitarist Matt Wilbur.

Genre
Rock / Alternative / Pop

The Good
The EP features 5 tracks in all with 4 of them mostly up-tempo numbers. The singer Matt Wilbur wrote 4 of the songs on his own and co-wrote “Baby, I Can’t Wait”. He’s got a really good voice and a nice touch with the writing. There’s a great use of melody to give a slightly pop song feel to the edginess of the rock sound. These songs would sound utterly fantastic coming out from your car radio speakers. The guitar work on the album is fabulous, particularly on the aforementioned “Baby, I Can’t Wait.” The guitar licks are great and the song is the one that is the most aggressive musically. The closing song “Keep Driving” is a bit more of a midtempo number but it still manages to be a winning tune.

The Bad
There’s nothing of note to report here.

The Verdict
I’m normally a little wary of reviewing EP albums because there’s less material to really get an idea about a band’s ability. This is not the case with Woodale. They come out firing from the beginning and prove to any and all listeners that they have the talent to make some noise in the music world. Their CD Finish What You Start serves up 5 songs of wonderfully melodic tunes filled with great songwriting and fantastic music. I was very impressed, even as I was wishing for more.

Did You Know?
The band’s music was featured on the 4th episode of the second season MTV show The Hills. The band has their own MySpace page.

Rating: out of 5
