1. If I knew absolutely nothing about Another Big Machine,
how would you describe the group’s music to me?
-- ABM covers huge aspects of the Rock/Pop Genre,
some songs being acoustically driven while others are driven by loud guitars
and in your face vocals. Most of the music is catchy and easy to sing along
to.
2. If I were to buy your new album,
what songs should I pay particular attention to and why?
-- Sedated is the opening track on the record.
I would pay close attention to this song because it's great and easy
to relate to. Another stand out song on the record is All These Lights.
Dane Carmouche, the bass player/background vocalist, does a great job
vocally with this song and it's very laid back and chill. Everyone
that hears the record will have different opinions, but those two songs
are my favorite.
3. When and where did the band form, and where did the
name come from? -- The band formed
in 2003 in a small town called Gonzales, a few miles south of Baton Rouge.
ABM previously known as Addavoy, wrote a song called Another Big Machine.
When the band was on the verge of breaking up in 2005 due to members leaving,
we decided to hire new members and keep pushing the product. The musical
direction of the band changed and so did the writing style. We decided it
was best to change the name and start fresh as ABM.
4.
What was your worst on stage experience? What was your
best?
-- I've had many bad stage experiences. We used
to do these small indie tours playing hole in the wall bars. Sometimes
these places didn't have monitors and in some cases not even a PA system.
For obvious reasons, those shows were horrible but we always found a
way to make it work.
My best stage experience was a few years back at the House of Blues in New
Orleans. We played a great show and the crowd was so intense. To this day,
that show always stands out in my mind as the best show I've ever played.
5. Do you think that the Internet (whether it be Internet
radio, legal downloading, MySpace, streaming audio, etc.) is a good tool
for musicians or is it a bad thing because it hinders profits?
-- I think it's a great thing. Many bands have had
great exposure through Myspace and other social networking sites. It's done
great things for ABM and I think this is only the beginning. The internet
is an open door to so many more new and upcoming ideas in music. You never
know what’s going to be next. Anything that can get the music out and
into the ears of people around the world is a great tool in my opinion. It’s
something that we should take full advantage of while we can.
