1. If I knew absolutely nothing about Audiocrash,
how would you describe the group’s music to me?
-- AudioCrash is Rock.. plain and simple. We tend
to use an acoustic touch to most of our songs, but not entirely. In sum,
AudioCrash is rock n roll.. with a little extra.
2. If I were to buy your new album,
what songs should I pay particular attention to and why?
-- I believe the pure collaborative effect of
AudioCrash can be heard on the songs "Chasing Sunlight", "My
Fault", "Everyday" and "My Fault". These songs
went thru major transformations from start to finish and combine the
basic elements of AudioCrash style.
3. When and where did the band form, and where didthe
name come from? -- AudioCrash was
a band name I wanted to use for 20 years, but never had the opportunity.
I used the term when my cassette tapes (back in the day) used to unravel
or break. A little tape and patience could put the music back together again.
I referred to that as a "temporary AudioCrash". Obviously, I dropped
the "temporary" and stayed with "AudioCrash".
4.
What was your worst on stage experience? What was your
best?
-- Never had a worst stage experience and never
a best yet. I would say that playing for beer in Europe at festivals
when I was younger left many fond memories in my mind... I guess there
is no pressure when you are are just playing for beer, right?
5. Do you think that the Internet (whether it be Internet
radio, legal downloading, MySpace, streaming audio, etc.) is a good tool
for musicians or is it a bad thing because it hinders profits?
-- The internet has leveled the playing field for artists
in many ways, particularly in terms of distribution and just getting music
out to people. It has also allowed bands to discard the idea of getting signed
by a label and allowing them to run the music business for themselves. Theoretically,
a band can now "make it" thru self marketing, touring and distribution
thru a variety of companies that readily available. The "X factor" is
still publicity and marketing. In other words, why should Susie in California
download my song instead of a song by the "Foo Fighters"?
In reality,
this is the edge the major or top indie labels still have in the marketplace.
The more money you can spend to put your song in front of people, the better
chance of success you will have. This will come at a price of course...
Record companies have and will adjust with what we call 360 agreements.
This is
a subject that I will not discuss now.. but, all independent artists: do
your research. Fortunately, there are great PR firms that are affordable
to indie musicians for publicity purposes. Did you ever hear of Rhonda
Rainmaker??
