1. If I knew absolutely nothing about Bella Noir,
how would you describe the group’s music to me?
-- The music that lies between day and night and
sleep and wakefulness.
2. If I were to buy your new album Premonitions,
what songs should I pay particular attention to and why?
-- Every song is the best at taking you on a
journey from beginning to end. What song you choose depends on where
you want to go...
3. When and where did the band form, and where didthe
name come from? -- NYC has been our
spiritual home since 2005. And in a dark, sweaty, and cramped rehearsal room
in the Lower East Side is where the four of us become one. The band name
is a reflection of our individual backgrounds and interests.
4.
What was your worst on stage experience? What was your
best?
-- Bad experience -
Coming very close to getting electrocuted at a small stage in which we
had our million pedals and effects all plugged into a single outlet.
Best experience -
We finally played a show with good sound at a local venue in NYC, with
outlets to spare.
5. Do you think that the Internet (whether it be Internet
radio, legal downloading, MySpace, streaming audio, etc.) is a good tool
for musicians or is it a bad thing because it hinders profits?
-- Its a double-edged sword. The degradation of the
recording industry has an adverse effect on small bands with shallow pockets.
Bands now have more freedom but also more responsibility to be more in the
business, which then takes some focus off the music. With freedom comes responsibility,
more DIY endeavors and having to expense your musical ventures on your own.
But also more freedom to do what you want with your music. Regardless, its
here to stay and we are all going to have to adapt.
