5 Questions with...

SIGNAL
www.myspace.com/signal

1. If I knew absolutely nothing about Signal, how would you describe the group’s music to me?
-- We consider ourselves to be Hard Rock but with melodic vocals. We don't sound like any one band but our sound is in the vein of Staind, Tool, Sevendust, etc. We believe we have our own sound.

2. If I were to buy your new album, what songs should I pay particular attention to and why?
-- Utopia and Invited. They are both live show crowd pleasers. From loyal fans to first timers, anyone can enjoy these tracks. They definitely have a mass appeal.

3. What was it like playing with The Cult?
-- Some of us in the band grew up as big fans of The Cult. It was definitely a surreal experience. All the guys were very cool and accommodating, their road crew treated us like we belonged. It was great.

4. What was your worst on stage experience? What was your best?
-- know you probably want some ungodly horror stories but aside from the occasional equipment mishap we've been very fortunate. Worst on stage experience; anytime we get stuck with Death Metal bands on a bill due to ignorant promoters, some of us enjoy a little death metal but other fans of death metal sure don't enjoy signal. Best onstage experience; Always the hometown crowds, they are the best hands down. They always make it an event.

5. Do you think that the Internet (whether it be Internet radio, legal downloading, MySpace, streaming audio, etc.) is a good tool for musicians or is it a bad thing because it hinders profits?
-- The Internet has become an invaluable tool to any independent musician. We are able to have our music heard anywhere in the world, Sell our music and have it shipped anywhere in the world and, most importantly, gain alot of fans we wouldn't normally be able to reach through regular touring. It almost defeats the purpose of record labels to an extent. We were recently invited to a show by the road manager of the band Saliva, we got the chance to talk with Josey Scott, singer of the band, and he told us, right now is the most profitable we will ever be as far as being an independent unsigned artist. He makes roughly a nickel when a CD of his is sold, we make upwards towards $9 profit when we sell a disc. This makes the Internet indispensable to a band like us.
