More like a sampler than a cohesive statement due to all
the the style and genre hopping, the album constructed by the duo known as
Munk (the members are producers Mathias Modica and Jonas Imbery) is a varied
mix of great music. It should figure since the duo has honed their trade
by providing music for everything from fashion shows to video games that
their eclectic resume would show in their eclectic vision presented on this
CD. As for the title, Modest Among The Living is an interesting choice as
Munk seem to be flaunting their abilities here, trying to prove beyond a
shadow of a doubt they can do anything and be as versatile as anyone.
The
thing is, the band almost pulls it off. While I can only take dance music
in limited doses depending on the situation, this CD had me transfixed
and interested all the way through. They are really ingenious and effective
at
what they are trying to do and I advise anyone interested in music with
a forward vision to check out this CD.
