5 Questions with Clock Hands Strangle

The band (Made up of Brian Bo - bass; Nick Hill - guitar; Todd Portnowitz - vox and guitar; Adam Burguet - drums, percussion, guitar, and violin; and Cristian Duran - trombone, organ, piano) almost has a country vibe on some of their songs. Seems as though they are trying for somewhat of a Wilco sound, (song 10 especially) and though they don’t quite have the talent to pull it off, their album is not bad – just needing direction as to how to go about making their own sound.

The singer has a ton of earnestness, if not actually a remarkable voice, but for rock and roll a great voice can sometimes be a detriment anyway so that’s not necessarily a bad thing. The drummer is excellent but it makes me wonder about the potential of a band whose most obvious asset is the drummer. I mean, there's nothing wrong with having a great drummer, I am just wondering if a drummer should be the best thing about a band. Though the band does add a few shadings to their sound by using a horn section as adornment here and there on a couple songs, it kind of sounds forced. Yeah, heavy Wilco-ish vibe here.
