The Good
Nothing could redeem this piece of crap!
The Bad
How may times do you need to use the words f**k, p***y, and bitch to get your
point across? That’s not just in one song, that’s in every song!
Not only is that a sign of stupidity, but it’s a sign of ignorance. Every
song on Only in Amerika is exactly the same (with the exception of two). The
first half of the songs are about how they’re tough guys and they’re
gonna kick your ass. The second half of the songs are about how hard and dirty
they’re going to f**k some bitches. If the song isn’t split like
that, it’s about one or the other.
Now I’m for freedom of speech and all that, but when rap music uses
those terms and lyrics, they’re usually part of a story or theme, and
are usually set to a catchy beat. HED p.e. chose to ignore these tactics. You
can’t tell one song from the other, and I’m not even sure if they
know how to play their instruments. No one would be able to recall or even
hum the rhythm section to any of these tracks. It’s not like I listened
to a couple of tracks either, I listened to the whole CD.
The lyrics have no thought or meaning behind them. Perhaps in Jahred’s
delusional mind they do. Maybe he was just trying to keep it real. Another
thing that puzzled me was how many times HED p.e. referred to themselves as
a ‘real’ hardcore punk band, when anybody with half a brain can
tell they’re a rap-rock outfit; a genre that died years ago. Wasn’t
HED p.e. a predominantly hard rock group with a little rap-rock thrown in?
What the hell happened?! There are still traces of their former self toward
the end of the album, but that might have been done just to get a track on
the radio.
The Verdict
GARBAGE! GARBAGE! GARBAGE! One has to wonder if HED p.e. plotted to go the offensive
and controversial route so they’ll start getting some press, or are they
really that ignorant? I’ll go with the latter.
Did You Know?
HED p.e. has sold over 700,000 albums since their 1995 EP was released. Add
maybe 20 more with this one.
Rating: ZERO!!!!!!
